About Tim

Tim Haas has been a full time music instructor and performer since 2006. 

He has been an adjunct faculty at Grand Canyon University since 2012, where he runs the GCU clarinet studio, is Director of Recruiting for the GCU Thundering Heard Pep Band and plays Principal Clarinet in the Canyon Symphony Orchestra.

Tim maintains a large private teaching studio of clarinet and saxophone students. His students have qualified for numerous national level and state level honor groups.

He also has been a clinician for many high schools and middle schools. Tim has been a woodwind instructor with several Phoenix area high school marching and concert bands.  Groups under Tim's guidance have received Superior with Distinction awards at the Arizona Area and State concert band festivals, High Music captions at the Arizona State Marching Band Festival, the High Music Award at the Arizona State Marching Band Championship, and the High Music Award at the Western Band Association Marching Band Championship.

Tim has been the Principal Clarinetist of the Symphony of the Southwest (formerly Mesa Symphony Orchestra) since 2008. He has performed with many professional groups in the Phoenix area, including The Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera Orchestra, West Valley Symphony, Phoenix Opera Orchestra and MusicaNova Orchestra. Tim is also a frequent solo performer, and has been a featured soloist with bands from Grand Canyon University, Basha High School, Campo Verde High School, Corona del Sol High School, Gilbert High School, Hamilton High School, Marcos de Niza High School, Perry High School and Ramona High School. He was also a featured performer at the 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 International ClarinetFests.
